Allergic rhinitis is a common inflammatory condition of the nasal mucosa frequently observed in children. It is characterized by symptoms such as nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, sneezing, itching, and conjunctival irritation. The condition is considered a major chronic pediatric disorder due to its high prevalence and associated co morbidities. Allergic rhinitis is broadly classified into seasonal and perennial types depending on the duration and triggering allergens. Studies indicate that the highest incidence occurs among children aged two to ten years, with males showing a slightly higher susceptibility. The pathophysiology involves immunological hypersensitivity where allergens stimulate IgE bound mast cells, leading to the release of inflammatory mediators such as histamine and resulting in typical allergic symptoms. Environmental factors such as pollen, air pollution, and chemical irritants may aggravate the condition. Homoeopathy offers a holistic and individualized approach to the management of allergic rhinitis by selecting remedies based on the patient’s constitutional characteristics and symptom totality. Constitutional homoeopathic medicines aim to strengthen the body’s immune response and reduce both the frequency and intensity of allergic episodes. Clinical observations suggest that properly selected homoeopathic remedies provide significant relief in pediatric allergic rhinitis while minimizing the adverse effects often associated with conventional medications.
