Abstract
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common and complex endocrine disorders affecting women of reproductive age. The condition is characterized by hormonal imbalance, chronic anovulation, and excessive androgen production, which interfere with normal ovarian follicle development and lead to the formation of multiple ovarian cysts. The prevalence of PCOS is estimated to be around 5–10% among women aged 15–35 years. The exact etiology remains unclear, although genetic predisposition, insulin resistance, lifestyle factors, and hormonal disturbances are considered major contributing factors. Common clinical manifestations include irregular menstruation, infertility, obesity, hirsutism, acne, and metabolic complications such as insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Conventional treatment mainly focuses on symptomatic management through hormonal therapy, lifestyle modification, and fertility treatments. Homoeopathy approaches PCOS from a holistic perspective by considering the individual as a whole rather than focusing solely on the disease. Psychological, physical, and constitutional factors are evaluated to select an individualized remedy based on the principles of “similia similibus curentur” and the law of individualization. The homoeopathic approach also considers miasmatic influences and constitutional susceptibility in disease development. By addressing the root cause and restoring the balance of the vital force, homoeopathic treatment aims to provide a safe, gentle, and long-lasting therapeutic approach in the management of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
